Facebook Updates Part 3: Optimise Your Posts
Loves Data
In part 3 of our Facebook Updates series, we want to help you optimise your content and social strategy so that your users want to prioritise you within their news stream.
Add value to content (use visuals)
Taking the time to read a post is a significant investment by any user. Don’t make them feel as if they’ve wasted their time. Make sure your content’s contributing to the conversation and adding value, whether it’s in the form of advice, interest, information or entertainment. Always add a visual to your post. Images are more likely to be eye-catching when users scroll on mobile while text can easily be lost and glossed over.
Be consistent (and discerning)
Now that users know your posts are worth reading, don’t disappoint them by disappearing. Post consistently so users know what to expect and when to expect it. Consider using an app to schedule posts and stick to it. Resist the temptation to post too often. No one likes spam in their news feed.
Stay up to date
Posting on Facebook is a little like having a conversation with the internet at large, so it helps to know what everyone’s talking about. Staying on top of trends requires more than being a casual digital native. Whether it’s through alerts, Google Trends or Twitter hashtags, make it a priority to know the online buzz.
Have a conversation
Your followers are not automatons and neither are you. If they’ve invested time by engaging with you online, don’t leave them hanging. It’s a relationship after all.
It’s still early days in the quest for priority tags, so no one knows what adoption rates will be or if Facebook will allow businesses to view who has tagged them as ‘priority’. However, if you’re producing quality content and forging a relationship with your followers, best thing to do is stay the course.
Stay tuned
We’ll be keeping an eye on this and any other changes for you, so stay tuned!
